Summer Opportunities

Registration due for Camp Vermilion/Camp Hiawatha (VLM)  as soon as possible. Active youth confirmation/high school students will receive $100 paid by Concordia towards one VLM camp experience.

Day Camp - Aug 4 - 8, 2008 (Grades 1-6)  9:00 - 3:00
Held at Concordia in conjunction with Family of God and Kenwood Lutheran and supported by VLM staff.  Cost TBD

VLM Senior High Servant Camp June 15-27

Spend two weeks working at VLM’s camps while still experiencing camp life and leadership. Limited spaces available, early bird registration deadline is March 15th. Forms online at www.vlmcamps.org. Church pays half of the fee. Check this out or any other camp week on their website.

Peer Ministry 2008

This training is for those wanting to be a better friend and mentor for other youth. Contact Brett or Pastor David if you are interested in joining this group for an overnight training this summer.

TEC Retreat June 28-30

A three day event for youth seeking a deeper connection of their faith to their daily lives. This event will be held in Pine City this June. The fall event will be held in Superior.

Chicago Mission Trip June 29-July 4

How do you want to spend a week of your upcoming summer– lazily sitting in front of your tv playing your x-box for the 1 millionth time or would you rather gather with a group of friends exploring the world as a Christian servant? Join us for a week in the windy city. Cost is approximately $225. We will be doing a variety of service projects and a VBS-type program. This event is open to youth completing grades 9-12 this summer. Space is extremely limited, get your deposit in ASAP.

Eagle Mountain Overnight, August

Watch for information and dates about this upcoming hike to the tallest point in Minnesota. We will drive up the shore and spend the night at Cascade Falls campground. It’s a quick but beautiful trip to the Boundary Waters area.

ELCA National Youth Gathering, New Orleans Summer 2009

Every three years, the tens of thousands of Lutheran high schoolers from the USA and the world gather in a southern US city for a week of awesome worship and learning. Along with the ELCA gathering, our synod also coordinates a service event for three days prior somewhere along the way. This is an event that you will remember for the rest of your life. Sign up now to join in on the fundraising that has already started.
