Service and OutreachCHUM Church CHUM (Churches United in Ministry) meets at Peace United Church of Christ the second Sunday of each month. Adults with developmental disabilities are given the opportunity to express their beliefs, support one another and experience God's love. We are a participant in this ecumenical Duluth organization and provide service leadership each year. Safe Haven Just a reminder that household goods, like pots, pans, silverware dishes, furniture are needed. There is a bin in the narthex for your items. Prayer Chain Consists of a small group of very dedicated individuals who receive praryer requests from the pastor, church office or prayer chain leader. The prayer requestes are then passed on down throught the chain of members, each on praying for the situation one by one until it is completed. BeFriender Ministry The BeFriender Ministry is a national, ecumenical organization that provided leadership training and program support for a listening ministry of pastoral care. Lay ministers embody the caring presence of God and the faith community. The first Sunday of the month is Food Shelf Sunday. Bring your donations and place them in the box in the narthex. Members volunteer to deliver meals to homebound residents of Duluth. Lay ministers visit members in the hospital. Sermon tapes are delivered weekly to home bound members. Quilters meet the third Thursday at 9:00 a.m. each month from September to May. Bring a bag lunch for your noon meal. They make quilts each year to that are sent to local organizations and overseas for Lutheran World Relief. |
