Love Like Jesus!
During
this coming program year, Concordia will be joining a synod-wide
Discipleship Challenge, Love Like Jesus. The Discipleship Challenge is an
invitation to grow deeper in our faith as we walk together in ministry. We
will use the seven Faith Practices lifted up by the ELCA as a focus for this
Challenge. The Faith Practices are not something to achieve and succeed at,
but are a way of life as a response to become who Christ has called us to be
. . . to follow and love like Jesus. Several one-time opportunities are offered throughout the month. The
goal is that 80% of the congregation participate in one opportunity or
another. Choose the option that fits your schedule best: Each event will include a
short video clip from the synod, introducing the theme, Love Like Jesus,
as well as discussion starters and guides on the Faith Practice Give. In
addition, each participant will receive materials to take home for further
consideration and study. As a follow-up, congregations and
individuals from the synod are invited to post pictures and videos depicting
that
Faith Practice on the NE MN Synod Discipleship Challenge: Love Like
Jesus Facebook page, as well as helpful links and resources that can be
shared. This challenge is for everyone: youth groups, adult forums,
church councils, intergenerational groups, Sunday school, circles, garden
groups, choirs, Bible study groups, committees and any other groups that
gather in your congregation and beyond!
Companions in Christ
"Companions in Christ" is the material we will be using as a small group at
this meeting. The plan is to meet about once a month at each others houses
for dinner followed by Bible study.
There are six sessions and we'll cover about one
section a month (excluding December). The schedule is:
July: "Exploring Contemplative Prayer"
We typically gather for a meal first followed by the Bible study. All
are welcome. If you would like a copy of the workbook, more information or
directions, contact Scott Hoecker
Prayer Ministry Team
A prayer chain prays regularly for members and special requests. Please contact
the church office if you have a prayer request. You don't have to identify the
specific subject; you may just ask for prayer, etc. If you prefer, you may simply
give first names or initials. All prayers are confidential.
Bridges to Christ - Women's Service and Fellowship Group
Fellowship and service among Lutheran women meets first Monday night,
6:45 pm
monthly throughout the school year.
